(I apologize about the inactivity on this blog. I know it isn’t really popular, but I’ll try to log on every day from now on.)
+“When you’re done wipe them, all of them.”“Miami…it would be quite decent for our needs.” Castiel clicked a few more buttons, turning back to face Dean once more. “Thank you.”
He sat on the bed and rubbed a hand through his short hair. “Thanks? For what? We’re not even in the clear yet.”
“That is correct. However, you…you have opened…so many possibilities to me. You…even against your superiors orders, you are letting me remain free. Even opened a door for friendship.” He paused. “Or…” He shakes his head. “Thank you.”
+Castiel’s fingers worked at lightening fast speed, the screen flashing over his eyes, barely able to keep up. “I think of it as wise for us to go somewhere…busy…yes?” Castiel murmured over the clacking of the computer.
“Yeah, busy ‘s good.” Dean murmured picking up a shoe box full of money. The savings, the nest egg. He’d always known the shit would hit the fan. He just didn’t expect him to have actively chosen it. “Phoenix, New Orleans, oooh Miami.”He let his mind wander to a day dream of opening a sand bar and spending the remainder of his days in flip flops and sunglasses before shaking himself out of it. He had another half hour before he needed to check in. He turned back to Castiel, bags packed and ready.
“When you’re done wipe them, all of them.”
“Miami…it would be quite decent for our needs.” Castiel clicked a few more buttons, turning back to face Dean once more. “Thank you.”
+Castiel zoomed in on the location on his hand map, smiling at the hotel. “Interesting…I have never been to it…how exciting.” He shuts off the map, sticking his hand out the window, making his fingers dance in the breeze. “…thank you, Winchester.”
“Dean,” he spoke softly. “Please, call me Dean. The DOD calls me Winchester. I guess I’m not that person anymore am I?”
He turned his attention to the road, stealing quick glances at the being in the passenger seat. Thing and machine now seemed like wrong terms of address, with the human like qualities he was displaying now. His mind raced as he pulled into the parking lot.
“You ready?”
Castiel nodded hesitantly. “Yes, Dean.” He swallowed, as if nervous. “I am as well prepared as possible.”
“Come on,” he tried to speak reassuringly. He exited the vehicle and took Castiel by the forearm, steering him to the hotel room. Once inside he deposited him in front of the computers. “Alright, do your thing.”
He busied himself with packing away the few things he hoped didn’t have lowjacks on him. Dean didn’t have many personal items, but he’d need clothes and possibly the few untraceable weapons. He wondered idly where Castiel would want to go. Mountains, beach, a big city?

+Castiel tilted his head, practically blushing at the nickname. “Confirmed.” He nodded obediently. “What hotel?” Castiel lifts up his right arm, a small projection map beaming seamlessly from his hand. “I wish to…observe possible locations for us…before arriving anywhere…”
The grin on Dean’s face at Cas’ reaction to the nickname reminded him that he hadn’t smiled this much in quite some time. Maybe he had made the right decision. His expression soon changed to that of shock when he watched the android create a map from his palm. Yeah, definitely more useful than for just killing.
“Um, Cas, I don’t mean to alarm you but you have a head’s up display…. on your hand.”
He laughed, throwing back his head. Correct decision. The thought played through his mind as he laughed, sniffling and chortling at his new found freedom.
“Uh, it’s the Fairfield, Sierra Vista.” He managed to choke out.
Castiel zoomed in on the location on his hand map, smiling at the hotel. “Interesting…I have never been to it…how exciting.” He shuts off the map, sticking his hand out the window, making his fingers dance in the breeze. “…thank you, Winchester.”
+“My hacking skills are the best of modern technology.” He gazed out the window as he continued to explain. “I am…programmed to adapt…to learn…it takes a matter of seconds for me to understand any new or updated electronic device….and that includes dismantling or hacking it.” He tilted his head curiously, looking up at Dean. “You believe I can be useful for more than just killing?”
A wide smile began to grow over Dean’s face. “I believe that you can be useful for so many things, executions are going to be at the bottom of the list.”
Well there went the money problems. Cas could hack the banking system and send his money of shore. Shit, he could create a fake trail of money and lead the feds off the other way if he wanted to. Excellent.
“I’m going to have to take you back to take you back to my hotel. I am going to call and check in, say I have you and then we work fast. They know I set off the EMP so if I don’t call in they’re going to start scouting. We need the roads clear. You’re going to work dealing with the money, setting it up so it looks like we’re spending it in certain places. Then we go the opposite direction. You can pick the first place. Since you’re doing all the work. Sound good, Cas?”
Castiel tilted his head, practically blushing at the nickname. “Confirmed.” He nodded obediently. “What hotel?” Castiel lifts up his right arm, a small projection map beaming seamlessly from his hand. “I wish to…observe possible locations for us…before arriving anywhere…”
+Castiel’s nose tweaked at the joke, but he seemed to understand it enough. “We will earn honest money, yes?” He smiled. “I…have grown attached to the name Castiel.” He looked away, with a fond twinkle in his blue eyes. “I became me, on a Thursday…it only seemed… appropriate.” He moved closer to Dean, climbing over the back and into the passenger side. “We…we both can acquire the freedom we desperately desire. We can do the things we wish.”
“Castiel, well that’s certainly better than C3P0 or whatever they were calling you.” He stiffened at the invasion of space until Castiel had settled in the passenger seat. “So does that mean you’re coming with me? I warn you, I’m an asshole. I get road rage really badly and I snore like a freight train.”
He paused and smiled, the idea growing on him more and more. “What do you care, you probably don’t even need sleep.”
He straightened in his seat and rubbed his eyes with the heels of his hands. “This is a logistical nightmare. We gotta ditch this car, get a different one. No computer, it has to be old. Money. Shit.”
He stopped rubbing his eyes and rested his forehead against the steering wheel. He turned, not lifting his head and looked over.
“Hey Cas, how’s your hacking skills.”
“My hacking skills are the best of modern technology.” He gazed out the window as he continued to explain. “I am…programmed to adapt…to learn…it takes a matter of seconds for me to understand any new or updated electronic device….and that includes dismantling or hacking it.” He tilted his head curiously, looking up at Dean. “You believe I can be useful for more than just killing?”
+Castiel’s eyes blink open for a few moments before he sits up. His body felt as if it’s made of rubber, not various metals. He felt drained, like he needed to go on stand-by mode or eat, which was bizarre, seeing as though he never did eat before. He just felt he needed to. He sat up, collecting his barrings before speaking. “Winchester…you do know that, even incapacitated, my censors that run on solar energy record everything. Including what you said.” He tilted his head. “You are not as heartless as you seem.”
“Well obviously I am because I’m not completely sold on letting you go.” he stated. “Since you heard all that then you’re going to tell me how I have a choice.”
He considered the being in front of him. When did he start thinking of him as him and not it?
“If I let you go I have to run too, and then they send someone else, after both of us. How is that a choice?”
“It would be your choice…our chwoice to run. Our choice to escape…to make our own decisions…regardless of the risks.” Castiel smiled a small smile, tugging at the corners of his pink lips. “We could run away…I am..extremely advanced…you are their best…no one would catch us…” He stopped speaking for a moment, thinking. “Or you could bring me in…they will dismantle me…because I would choose not to be their…weapon. And you will continue…your task of making people who decide to make their on choices ‘disappear.’” Castiel attempted the air quotes once more. “You would…we wouldn’t have to be lonely, anymore.” He looked down.
Dean blinked a few times, taking in what he said. “We?”
They would definitely fair better as a team, that’s for sure. This is your out, Winchester. you haven’t been happy for a very long time. What would they do for money? What would happen when they sent someone else after them.
You don’t deserve this. The soldier let out the smallest of laughs at the air quotes. He was trying. When was the last time Dean had tried to be human.
“Look, K, erm what do I call you?” He balked but started again without waiting for the answer. “I want this. I’ve wanted out since I got in, I want to go to Mexico and fish and do all the things people do in movies when they’re on the run. But it takes money, and if I take off, with or without you, I can’t use my accounts. Also you have to realize they are not going to stop. I’m the first, but there are more. They’ll want me dismantled just as much as they want you.”
He offered a smile at the joke.
Castiel’s nose tweaked at the joke, but he seemed to understand it enough.
